Robert Barnhill
Robert Lee Barnhill of Cleveland, Ohio, formerly of Elkview, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2015. Bob was born November 13, 1949 in South Charleston. Bob attended Antioch Advent Church as a child and was saved at a young age and is now resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior.
Bob was the son of the late James Robert and Julia Gertrude Hunter Barnhill. He was also preceded in death by brothers, William Edward Barnhill, Sr. and James Ronald Barnhill.
Bob leaves behind to celebrate his life, brother, Larry Eugene Barnhill of Huntington, sisters, Patricia Elizabeth Brown (Gene) of Raleigh, N.C. and Carol Lyn Barnhill of Elkview. Nephews, William E. Barnhill, Scott A. Barnhill, David M. Brown and nieces, Ginger Barnhill Marshall, Diana Brown Gunter, and Michelle Brown Bruner as well as several great nephews and nieces. Included also are dear friends and Cleveland family Janet and Bob Gyevat.
Bob was employed at the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District as an Occupational Health/Workers Compensation Administrator. In 2013, Bob received the designation of Associate in Risk Management (ARM) from The Insurance Institutes. Bob was the first Certified Workers' Compensation Professional in the State of Ohio and in the initial thirty in the country to receive this designation.
After graduating from Herbert Hoover High School, he graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. Bob was an assistant designer at Ithaca College and full designer at the Village Dinner Theater in Erie, Pa. before moving from Charleston, WV to Ohio. Bob enjoyed working in the arts in Charleston bother in the Light Opera Guild and the Kanawha Players, appearing in many productions including some favorites of God Spell, Bob joined other members of the original cast for a reunion last year when God Spell was performed again for Charleston audiences. Bob enjoyed meeting up with his old friends and reminiscing about old times.
Bob's family and his many friends will miss him but will remember, with a smile, his dry wit and all the fun times.
Bob's family would also like to thank the Western Reserve Hospice and Cleveland Clinic for their kindness to Bob.
A service will be held for Bob on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 11:00am at Hafer Funeral Home with Pastor David Keeney officiating. Burial will follow Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney. Friends may call from 6pm - 8pm on Friday, November 13, 2015 for visitation.
