Phyllis Ann Boggs Snodgrass, 85, passed from this life on June 5, 2018 at Hubbard House West, after battling Alzheimer’s.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pinch for over 70 years, after getting saved at age 14. She was a graduate of Elkview High School. She received a degree in Nursing from Kanawha Valley Hospital School of Nursing, and after graduation worked for the hospital. She was “Nurse Phyllis” to many people on Elk River while working for Dr. Wirt W. Duff. After his death, she become a Home Health Nurse with Kanawha-Charleston Health Department, retiring from there in 1997. During her retirement years, she remained active with her church, where she taught Sunday School, served Kool-Aid and cookies during Vacation Bible Schools, and sang alto in the Choir. She was part of a group of volunteers who sang to the patients at Meadowbrook Acres Nursing Center every Thursday morning. She also faithfully attended Liberty Baptist Church in Milton, WV, once she moved in with John and Christy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo and Myrtle Boggs, brothers, James, Harry, Charles W. (Bill), and Franklin, and three sisters, Kathleen Boggs, Mary Kester, and Helen Long.
She is survived by her children, Elizabeth (Gary) Atkinson of Greenville, NC, John (Christy) Snodgrass of Hurricane, WV, grandchildren, Jason (Amy) Carte of Cary, NC, Sarah (Corey) Crandell of Greenville, NC, and six great-children, Ayanna, Jenna, Noah, Bella, Aria, and Lyla.
The family would like to thank Dr. Hussein El-Khatib, Dr. Shirley Neitch, Dr. Kevin Boggess, and Dr. Amy Wirts, as well as the wonderful nurses and staff of Kanawha Hospice Care. Finally, the family would like to thank Christy Snodgrass for the wonderful care and devotion she gave our beloved Mother during the last 3 and ½ years of her life.
Service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, June 7, 2018 at Hafer Funeral Home with Pastor Kim L. Stone and Rev. Clee Egnor officiating. There will be a private graveside service at the Vickers Cemetery, Pinch Ridge.
Visitation will be 12-2pm Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the funeral home.
