Ray Sheets, 83, of Elkview went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at his residence. He was born on March 24, 1933 to the late Albert and Flota Sheets.
He was a wonderful loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a retired mechanic and mining electrician. Ray served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed restoring cars, and hunting. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, William, Atlee and sisters, Delsie and Ocie.
Survived by loving wife of 61 years Peggy Sheets; daughters, Sharon (Rick) Parsons, Judy Powers; son, Jeffrey (Connie) Sheets; grandchildren, Brian, Shannon, Erika, Allison and Payton; great grandchildren, Taylor, Addison, Kate and Matti; sister, Edith Cantrell; brother, Raymond Sheet.
Service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Hafer Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Myers officiating. Burial will be in the Morris Cemetery, Elkview with military graveside rights conducted by American Legion Post 61, Clendenin.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
