Everett Clinton Johnson, Sr., 71, of Dutch Ridge Road, Clendenin went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 at the Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.
Everett was the son of Beulah and Everett V. Johnson. He was born Feb 28, 1944. He passed from cancer due to agent orange. He attended Morris Memorial at Sanderson until he was no longer able to go because of his illness.
He served in the US Army in Korea on the DMZ during the Vietnam Era from Oct. 1967 till Oct 1972. That is where he earned the sharpshooter metal. Everett was honored to serve his country and it made him feel so good every time somebody would shake his hand and say "thank you" for your services.
He worked for the City of Charleston as a tree trimmer. He worked for Yellow Cab Co, BG Dingess as a truck driver and Albert Hissom on Spring Street. Everett loved the outdoors, he loved to hunt, fish and making cane's and walking sticks.
Everett was preceded in death by his grandbaby Bautista, his father, Everett V. Johnson, his mother, Beulah Edens Johnson; sisters, Alice Johnson, Rita Stires, Mary Taylor; brothers, Lawrence and Romie Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Harper Johnson; daughter, Donna Bautista (Rick Jordan); sons, Everett "Bubby" (Robin) Johnson, Thomas Johnson; daughter, Bobbie Jo (BJ) Leeson of Charleston; former son-in-law, Joe Bautista; sister, Martha (Roger) Gunnoe; brother, Daniel (Glenda) Johnson of Ripley; sister-in-law who was more like a sister, Nancy Harper of Clendenin, Judy (Tom) Skeen of SC; brother-in-law, Jimmie (Joan) Harper, Jr. of Ohio. The love of his life beautiful grandchildren, Quinton (Alex) Watson, Jessica Johnson at home, Audrey and Chloe Johnson of Charleston, Joseph Bautista who made papa's last Christmas very special decorating his home and yard with lots of lights for him, Deandre; Shakena and Aaliyah Crockett, Brittany Riddlebaugh of Charleston and his two - four legged friends Frisky and Bonnie. Also many nieces, nephews and great nieces, great nephews and many friends. Everett you will be greatly missed by everyone.
Funeral will be 11:00 am Wednesday, Jan 20, 2016 at the Hafer Funeral Home with Pastor Rodney Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Harper Family Cemetery, Dutch Ridge with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 61, Clendenin.
Visitation will be 6-8 pm Tuesday, Jan 19, 2016 at the funeral home.
