Alma Mae Halstead
Alma Mae Halstead 95, of Elkview went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, February 5, 2015, after a long illness.
She was a homemaker, wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, loved farming, gardening, canning, had a very sweet personality and a way of drawing friends and family together. She was a resident of Meadowbrook Acres Nursing Center for the past 15 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents Solomon Page and Minnie Bell Kelly Page. Also, she was proceeded in death by her husband of 41 years, Elmer Halstead, infant son at birth, Gerald Lee and an infant daughter Joyce Ann; brother Melvin Page; sisters Mary Matics, Minervia Milam, Bertha Dickerson and Pearl Brightwell.
She is survived by daughters Ellen (Jim) Huffman, Patricia Ann (DJ) Atkins, both of Elkview; 3 grandchildren, Lorie (Mike) Humphrey of Sissonville, Michael (Sarah) Huffman of Elkview; and Lynette Stumbo of Charleston; 3 great grandchildren Ava & Abby Huffman and Dylan Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Meadowbrook Acres Nursing Center, 2149 Greenbrier Street, Charleston, WV 25311.
Service will be 2:00 PM, Monday, February 9, 2015 at Hafer Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lee Swor officiating. Burial will follow in the Halstead Cemetery, Elkview.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
