Obituary for Carl "Scott" Curry

Carl Scott Curry entered our world on September 9, 1972 and exited all to quickly on January 29, 2023. He is preceded in death by his Mother, Wanda Jones, Father, Claude Curry, Aunt, Kay Brower and Uncle, Joe Hoffman.

Scott is survived by his adoring wife of 26 1/2 years, Holly and the loves of his life Jacob, Chloe and Makenzi.
He is also survived by his brothers, Steve Curry (Lynn) of Cross Lanes, Walter Curry of Dunbar, Tony Weber of North Carolina, Bryan Curry (Whitney) of Texas and Mark Curry (Kody) of Big Chimney, many nieces and nephews and 4 great nieces.

His family knew him as the best of everything. Best Dad, husband, brother and friend. He truly was their Superman. He could always have fun, but loved his job. Employed by Elk Valley PSD for 22 years, where he earned the Golden Shovel and Charleston Sanitary Board for 4 1/2 years. A friend to all and a stranger to none. Scott always had the right superhero attire and the right thing to say (even if it was wildly inappropriate, it was always funny).

In high school he was an integral member of the Herbert Hoover Husky Drum line, which reached critical acclaim in the Kanawha Valley under his watchful eye. As an adult he was a comic book aficionado, a walking encyclopedia and always the most fun at any event.

After graduating with the treasured HHHS class of '91, Scott coached recreational soccer, dove head first into the dark world of soccer Referee, loved the local music scene, enjoyed watching professional soccer and local High school soccer, playing video games and could hold a master class on anything comic book related. What Scott loved most of all during his brief time on this planet were his FAMILY and FRIENDS. Scott was a founding member of the Nerd Herd and cherished his time with some of the best friends a guy could have. He loved to reminisce and his attitude and outlook on life, even in his toughest days, was full of hope, positivity and encouragement for the ones he had to leave behind.

Scott leaves behind a legacy of kindness and a fight to the better end mentality which won't soon be forgotten. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Hafer Funeral Home in Elkview, WV from 2:00-4:00 with storytelling, some tall tales, inspirational words and a service fit for celebrating Scott's life beginning shortly after 4:00 p.m.
