John Wayne Whitehair, 65, of Elkview passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at CAMC General Hospital following complications from Influenza.
John loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Chase and granddaughter, Katie. He retired from Verizon telephone company, where he took great pride in enjoyment from his 30 years as a cable splicer technician.
He loved being on his boat in the ocean and deep sea fishing. John was a regular at the little league fields, where he spent many years coaching.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Lucille; father, Donald; and brother, Thomas Whitehair.
John is survived by daughters, Shannon Whitehair of Elkview, Dawn (Tim) Taylor of Gasonia, N.C.; brother, Larry Whitehair of Scott Depot; sister, Becky Whitehair of Charleston; grandson, Chase; granddaughter, Katie; and several nieces and nephews.
A service will begin 1pm, Friday, December 30, 2022 at Hafer Funeral Home, with Pastor Tommy Bartlett officiating. A private family burial will follow at Hayes Memorial Cemetery, of Youngs Bottom, WV.
Visitation will be from 12pm-1pm at the funeral home.
