Obituary for Harold Richard "Rick" Fitzgerald Jr.

Harold Richard “Rick” Fitzgerald, Jr. left this life to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, November 5, 2020 in Woodbridge, VA.

He was born on March 13, 1965 to Harold Fitzgerald, Sr. and Hollis India Hanson Fitzgerald in Charleston, WV. He was their only child and they adored him.
He grew up in Northern Virginia and was a member of Reality Gospel Church in Alexandria, VA for many years.

Rick graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Springfield, VA in June 1983.
On May 6, 1989 he married Pamela Denise Watson. Their wedding was officiated by Rick’s grandfather, William Hanson, Sr. at the Queen Shoals Tabernacle in Queen Shoals, WV.

The last job Rick had was the one that gave him the most pride and that was as a carpenter for the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA.

The parts of Rick’s life that gave him the most pride and satisfaction were his children. He was more proud of them than they will ever know.

He was a life-long Minnesota Vikings fan and he always enjoyed the back-and-forth ribbing he shared with his Uncle Dave Hanson (a Packers fan). Twice a year they would text each other with fun taunts and teases over who won or lost. The last football game he watched was when the Vikings beat the Packers November 1.

Rick was preceded in death by his mother, India Fitzgerald; his father, Harold “Itch” Fitzgerald; his mother-in-law, Jerry Watson; his uncles Buck and Charles Hanson; Ronald, Earl and Steve Fitzgerald Sr.; aunts Myrtle Lee Smith and Barbara Webb; and all of his grandparents.

He leaves behind a large grieving family including his wife, Pam; their son, Jacob; and their daughter, Caitlin.

He also leaves many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends who will miss him so very much.
