Obituary for Robert Lee Graham

Robert L. Graham, 88, of Charleston, went to his Heavenly home, Monday, April 29, 2019.

Bob was born to the late Ovid and Mattie Graham of Hinton, WV on July 10, 1930. He grew up in Sandstone, WV and graduated from Sandstone High School. He went directly into the Air Force after graduation. He enjoyed the challenge of his work. He loved reminiscing about the time he spent working for the airlines in both Charleston, WV and Atlanta, GA where he worked in ticketing and customer relations. He was later employed by Baldwin Supply where he worked as a buyer. In 1969 he went to work as a purchasing agent for Kanawha County Schools and later became Director of Purchasing. While working there he attended Morris Harvey College, where he received a bachelor's degree in business. From Kanawha County, he went to Putnam County as the Financial Officer. He also worked in the Cabell County School System in the same capacity until he retired.

He was a long time member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Pinch, WV where he served several terms as elder and served on many committees. He believed in community service. Bob was a long time member and officer of the Elk Valley Lions Club. He was a Mason, a member of the Beni Kedem Shrine Association as well as the Elks Club.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ovid and Mattie Graham and his brother Ovid L. Graham.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma J. Graham, brother, Conrad (Eva) Graham of Hinton, WV, daughters, Debbie (Jack) Hamrick of Pinch, WV, Becky (Mark) Young of Teays Valley, WV, grandsons Brian (Lorrie) Lane of Nitro, WV, Kevin (Amanda) Lane of Georgetown KY, Nicholas Marakovits of Teays Valley, WV, and granddaughter, Kelli Marakovits of Richmond VA. He also is survived by three great-granddaughters, Savannah, Ava, and Lily.

A service will be 1:00 PM Saturday, May 4, 2019 at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church with Pastor Jim Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, with Masonic rites honored by Kanawha Lodge #20 A.F.& A.M. Military rites will be honored by American Legion Post 61.

Visitation will be 6pm to 8pm Friday, May 3, 2019 at Hafer Funeral Home.
