Obituary for Eugene Lee Pauley

Eugene Pauley

Eugene Pauley, 87, went to home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 8, 2019, at Hubbard Hospice House.

He was born June 14, 1931 in Ronceverte, WV, son of the late, Robert and Nettie Pauley. Eugene was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Jr. and Calvin, and his sister, Marie.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lavonna Pauley; daughter, Becky; niece, Phyllis; and several cousins.

Eugene attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church when his health allowed him. he was a U.S. Veteran in the Army, and served his country in the Korean War. He began his working career by working on the mail car on the trains, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. After the mail was cut off from the trains, he was transferred to the Postal office in Charleston, where he worked 'til his retirement in 1985.
Although, he had only one child, he helped "raise" many children with his wife who baby sat for many kids, over 45 years. Eugene enjoyed walking, reading his Bible, and being outdoors.

His family would like to thank his in-home hospice team, Laural, Jenny, Thea, and Cheryl, who gave excellent care to Mr. Eugene.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MPBC, at 58 Mt. Pleasant Dr., Elkview, WV.
A service will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Hafer Funeral Home, with Pastor Lee Swor officiating. Burial will follow at Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney.

Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service and the funeral home.
