Life Story for Lucille Karnes Buckner

Lucille Karnes Buckner 90, passed away Sunday, December 2nd at her home in Charleston, WV.

Lucille was born on September 8, 1928 in Clifton Forge, VA and moved with her family to Spring Hill, WV in October 1939 at the age of 11. She was a 1947 graduate of South Charleston High School. She was employed by C & P Telephone until she decided to be a stay at home mom.

Lucille lost her husband Eugene Buckner of 66 years in June 2016. She is also preceded in death by her parents Chester Karnes and Lillian Karnes, sister Pauline Gross (2006), sister Illa Kinison (2002). Lucille lost two dear friends that she loved and greatly missed - Nancy Musgrove of VA (2006) and Sharlotte Beverly of South Charleston, WV (2010).

Survived by daughter Lagail Ashworth and husband Ronald of Sissonville, WV, son Calvin Grayling Buckner and wife Terry of Charleston. Two grandsons Eric Ashworth of Sissonville and Daniel Buckner of Charleston. Brother Noland Karnes and wife Oleta of South Charleston, WV. Special cousin Buddy Cauley of Hot Springs, VA.

She loved celebrating Christmas with all the family gathering at her house. Lucille loved attending the SCHS classmates' monthly luncheons.

We are very grateful for all the thoughts and prayers, it has meant so much to the family.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Tammy Calvert her hair dresser for making mom look so nice every week. Heartfelt thank you to Patty Sparks for loving care she gave our mom. The family would also like to thank Hospice for the love and care for their mother.

Service will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018 at the Hafer Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.

Visitation will be 11am-1pm Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018 at the funeral home.
