Jack D. Melton
Jack D. Melton, 90, of Blue Creek passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston after a short illness.
Jack was a retired mail carrier from the Elkview Post Office, and a member of the Pipefitters Union, Charleston. He was also a member of the Clendenin Masonic Lodge 126 AF&AM and the Scottish Rite in Valley of Charleston. Jack was proud to have served his country in the US Navy.
Jack loved to go hunting, spending time with family and friends at his camp in Hebron. He enjoyed attending Friday night Jam Sessions at the Elk River Community and Education Center and listening to Bluegrass music. He enjoyed visiting local restaurants to socialize with his friends.
He is preceded in death by parents, Walter W. Melton and Myrtle Melton; sisters, Naomi Melton and Alice Givens.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Artie Mae Melton; daughters, Sheila Melton of Elkview, Diana Melton (Tony) Davis of Elkview and son, Gary (Debbie) Melton of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; brother, Dale (Dottie) Melton of Elkview; sisters, Ann (Dave) Greear of South Charleston, Sandra Sanders of Palm Coast, Florida; grandchildren, Mary-Kathryn Melton Nourse, Carrie Melton Ferris, Whitney Melton, Josh Melton; all of Wisconsin. Also surviving is great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Service will be 2:00 pm Friday, July 20, 2018 at Hafer Funeral Home with Pastor Lee Swor officiating. Burial will be at Upper Pinch Memorial Gardens, Pinch.
Visitation will be 12-2pm Friday, July 20, 2018 at the funeral home.
