Cecil Gary Townsend

Cecil Gary Townsend, 75, of Elkview, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on July 10, at CAMC General after a prolonged illness.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer Townsend and Bertha DeMoss Townsend; brothers, Woodrow Townsend, James Townsend, and Roscoe Townsend; sisters, Eva Sue Townsend and Nancy Lipscomb.

Cecil was a Vietnam War Veteran and was a purple heart recipient. He retired from Coca-Cola Bottling Company after serving them for 35 years. He was a very loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Clara B. Townsend; children, Rick Morris (Angela), Eleanor Brown (Stoney), Chuck Morris (Tonya), Debbie Scott (Steve), Juanita Eagle (Tony), Randy Morris, Donna Pullen (Ron); 18 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren; siblings, Anna Mae Coleman, Venner Townsend, Patty Ramsey, Brenda Freshour, Keith Townsend, Ronnie Townsend, and Connie Coleman.

The family would like to give special thanks to Keith, for being by Cecil's side during his time of need.

A memorial service will be announced at a future date to celebrate the life of Cecil.
