Obituary for Kenneth Eugene Pennington

Kenneth E. "Gene" Pennington 93, of Charleston went home to be with the Lord from his home on July 3, 2018 after an extended illness.

He was the son of the late Luther L. and Letha Shuck Pennington. Gene was a WWII Veteran of the Army Air Core. He was a retired welder from Union Carbide.

He was preceded in death by his wife Betty and five brothers, Franklin, Ralph, Carl, Jessie, Robert. Sisters Irma Cicero, Reba Dunlap, and Elsie Nary.

He is survived by one brother Loren and sisters Lorena Dunlap, Frankie McCune, Myrtle Stinett and Lula Bell McCutcheon. Left to cherish Gene's memory are his children John (Camma), Karen Stout, Kathryn (Jerry) Vanduyn, Kenneth (Tracy) Pennington II, and two step daughters Sharon Osborne and Karen Whitlock. Also, nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

In life he enjoyed family and friends, camping, traveling, hunting and fishing.

A memorial service will be held Monday 2:00PM on July 9, 2018 with Speaker John McCune officiating. Burial will follow in the Pennington Cemetery, Loudendale. Visitation will be two hours prior to the Memorial Service at the funeral home.

The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to his caregivers, Dorlessa (Frap) Allen Taquilla (Missy) Allen and Belinda Lawrence, also the staff of Hospice for making Gene's final days peaceful and loving.

A meal will be provided for the family immediately following the burial at the shelter on the family farm.
