Obituary for Marilyn Louise Pauley

Marilyn Louise Pauley, 67, of Ladson, SC, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018 after a courageous four year battle with breast cancer. She died peacefully and with dignity surrounded by her family.

Marilyn was born on November 12, 1950 in Charleston, WV, and remained a proud lifelong Mountaineer. Daughter of the late Charles William and Thelma Jane Taylor Pauley, she graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in Clendenin, WV. She received her LPN nursing degree from Trident Nursing School and worked in health care until she retired. Marilyn was an avid photographer and owner of Marilyn's Photo of Goose Creek. She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed various mediums including watercolor, pastels and digital creations. Marilyn loved bird watching, gardening, dancing and seeing Broadway shows. She enjoyed traveling and made an annual trip to the French West Indies which she called her own paradise on earth.
Marilyn wanted to thank her family and many friends who showed such tremendous love and support. She was deeply thankful to all of you.

Survivors including her husband Leonard are: one daughter: Penny Gross Campbell (Christopher) of Mt. Pleasant; two sons: James William Gross (Bobby May) of New Haven, CT and Toby Allen Gross (Tanya Wolf) of Winston Salem, NC; five grandchildren: Scott Davis, Elaina Davis (Jacob), Aaron Gross, Parker Gross, and Thomas Gross; two sisters: Kathy Pauley of Summerville and JoAnn Keener of Dallas, TX; two nephews: Taylor Pauley (Genii) and Garrett Pauley (Simone). She was predeceased by her grandparents: Rev’s William and Estil Taylor and Hobert and Dolly Pauley.

The family would like to thank Dr. Julia Salors and her staff at the Charleston Cancer Center, Jennifer Beaty and her staff at The Breast Place and Harlan Feferbam of Connecticut for holistic care.

A celebration of Marilyn's life will be 2:00 pm Sunday, June 10 at Hafer Funeral Home in Elkview with Pastor James A. Walther officiating. Visitation will be 1 - 2 pm at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
