Betty Louise Looney Newhouse (Mawmaw Betty), of Pinch, passed away, January 23, 2017 at Hubbard Hospice House, after a long illness.
Mawmaw Betty, as she was known by her grandchildren and many friends and family, was a sixty year member of First Baptist Church of Pinch. She worked for Columbia Gas Transmission and C&P Telephone Company before taking on the role as a stay at home babysitter for children all over the community for more than twenty-eight years.
Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, church family and in her beautiful flower gardens. Betty was one of fifteen children born to the late, Shirkey and Nina Looney. She was also preceded in the death by her husband Homer Burton Newhouse; brothers, Teddy Looney and Clarence Looney; sisters, Ernie Bowles and Faye Keiffer.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving children Robert B. Newhouse, David A. Newhouse (Sharon), Debora Kay Drake (Paul); granddaughters, Tasha Loudermilk, Jessica Mullins, Kaila Mullins, Krista Stevens (Marshall); grandson, Dario Luke; sisters, Virginia Batten, Audry Duff, Janice Smith, Nancy Barnhouse, Connie Barnhouse, Ruth Eisenhower, Cindy Smith, Caroline Wolfe and Kathy Harper; and brother, Ronnie Looney.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Hafer Funeral Home, Elkview, and the funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of Pinch on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Vince Button officiating. Burial will follow in the Woody's Cemetery, Elkview.
A gathering of friends and family will follow the service and burial in the church gymnasium.
The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to Dr. Marciano Lee, Dr. Julian Espiritu, and Dr. Kimberly Spurlock for the kindness and loving care they provided to our dear sweet mother and grandmother. We would also like to thank Putnam County Aging, Clendenin Location, for daily delivery of meals and for Hubbard Hospice House for their compassionate care of our mother.
