Obituary for John Edsel Edens

John Edsel Edens
John Edsel Edens, 88, of Frame a loving husband, father, grandfather passed away Monday, May 30, 2016 in CAMC Memorial Hospital after a fighting long illness.

He retired from the US Postal Service after 40 years of service; and was recognized to have driven a million miles with no accidents. John was instrumental in starting the Frame Volunteer Fire Department where he served 21 years as a firefighter and Chief. He was a graduate of Elkview High School, an active member of the National Rural Letter Carrier Association and served his country in the US Army during World War II.

He is preceded in death by his son, David L. Edens; parents, John and Josie Canterbury Edens; brothers, Guy Edens and Jimmie Edens; sister, Naomi Jane Robertson.

John is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Reva Moore Edens; daughters, Diana Fraser, Debra (James) Fields; brothers, Samuel Edens, Okey Edens; grandchildren Allen Edens, Christina Beckman, Jonathan Fields, Eric Fraser, Stephanie Petry, Kelsey Burch; five great grandchildren.

Service will be 2:00 pm Friday, June 3, 2016 at the Hafer Funeral Home with Pastor Danny McClung officiating. Burial will be in Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 61, Clendenin.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Frame Volunteer Fire Department. The family would like to thank the staff of Oakridge Center and CAMC, 5 West for their wonderful care this past several months.
