Obituary for Gary Joe Ising

Gary Joe Ising
Gary Joe Ising

Gary Ising went to be with the Lord on October 28, 2015 at his residence in Charleston. He was 56 years old.

He was born on September 29, 1959 in Evansville, Indiana to Bonnie (Sullenger) Hardison and the late William Ising. He was also preceded in death by his stepfathers, Jack Staples and Walter Hardison, and his father-in-law Robert Roush of Charleston.

Gary spent most of his life serving others in many organizations. He was a former assistant scoutmaster an AWANA commander, and a trustee at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where he was also very active in children’s church along with many other ministries throughout the years. He also supported Elk Valley Christian School in the athletic and transportation departments in various roles. He was a 1977 graduate of both Charleston High School and Carver Technical Center. He had recently completed 16 years of service with Lumos Networks.

Throughout his life, faith and family were his top priorities. He was always willing to help anyone in need and was able to give good, sound advice on virtually any topic. He was also a fan of conservative talk radio and the show NCIS and was known for telling jokes.
