Joan Idleman of Elkview passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 5th, 2015 after an extended illness. She was born on October 13, 1930 in Charleston, WV.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Idleman, parents Delbert and Marbel Canterbury, sister Genevieve (Sis) Matson and brother Ray Canterbury.
She is survived by sisters Edith Allen of Charleston, West Virginia and Betty Lou Edens of Seattle, Washington; son Joseph and wife Lois of Kiawah Island, South Carolina and daughter Karen McClung and husband Charles of Pinch, grandsons William (Brandee) Idleman of Ladera Ranch, CA; David (Brianna) Idleman of Reedy, WV; Adam (Julie)McClung of Lancaster, KY; Jonathan (Rachel)McClung of Winston-Salem, NC; and Philip (Jeannie) McClung of Pinch; four great-granddaughters and five great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
Joan graduated from Elkview High School in 1950 and enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a talented seamstress and crocheter.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to caregivers Sherry Mullins, Monica Hobbs, Patricia Richard for their friendship, love, and unselfish service to both our parents.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 8th at 2:00 pm at Hafer Funeral Home, Elkview, with Pastor David Keeney officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Elk Hills Memorial Park.
