Obituary for John Harry Ditchman

John Harry Ditchman, age 83, of Procious died on Thursday, July 19, after a prolonged illness.

He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 2, 1934 to the late John and Wilhelmina Ditchman.

He served in the U.S. Army during and after the Korean War. Returning home, he worked as a driver and salesman for the Cotton Club Bottling Company until he retired.

He met his wife and sweetheart, Connie Schoolcraft, and celebrated 60 years of marriage. Together they raised three sons John, Allan, and Brian.

He is also preceded in death by his son, Brian Ditchman; siblings; Edward, William, Diane, Linda, and Geraldine; brothers-in-law, James Hutchinson, William Palmer, and George Schoolcraft; sisters-in-law, Loretta Hutchinson..

John is survived by his sons, John Ditchman, Allan (Colleen) Ditchman; daughter-in-law, Maureen Ditchman; siblings, Robert Ditchman and Jane Donathan; brother-in-law, Jack Kinder; sisters-in-law, Corina Kinder and Shirley Palmer. He was also a very proud grandfather of Samantha (Ryan) Clark, Maggie, Keith, and Charlie Ditchman; great grandfather of Lorelei and Madalyn Clark; and an uncle to many nieces and nephews.

In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Building Fund.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Monday July 23, 2018 at Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney, with Pastor Lee Swor officiating.

Military rites will be presented by the American Legion, Post 61 of Clendenin.
