Garnet “Mike” Naylor, 90, of Pinch, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018. He was born December 23, 1927 in Quick, a son of the late Estil and Ufa Naylor.
Mike retired from Union Carbide’s South Charleston Division and Sanderson Mining Division for 32 years and M.C. Naylor Monument Engraving in which he owned and operated until the age of 88.
Mike was an avid fisherman and loved to camp at Burnsville Lake as well as taking the family on vacation. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Mike traveled with Naylor Network Evangelistic Association in which he was a charter member. He enjoyed time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as his grand-dog, Willie, who had a very special place in his heart.
Mike was a deacon of Pinch Baptist Church for many years and attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Miriam Naylor, of 68 wonderful years, daughter, Charlene Harless, and husband, Richard, of Pinch, and David Naylor, and wife, Debbie, of Pinch. Grandchildren James Harless, of Pinch, Shannon Harless, of Greenville, South Carolina; Michael Naylor, of Hurricane, Alexander Naylor, of Pinch; and, Glenn Naylor, II, of Quick, and, Nicholas Naylor, of Raleigh, North Carolina. Great grandchildren Aeriel Noe, Israel and Reece Harless; Kaylei Dawn Naylor; and, his grand-dog, Willie.
In addition to his parents, Mike is preceded in death by his son, Glenn Alan Naylor; siblings, Eleanor Wimmer, Hazel Gillespie, Joyce Anderson, Dale Naylor, E.B. "Bus" Naylor.
The family wishes to make special mention and thanks to Ronnie Stricker, Joe Woda, R.N. of Gentiva, all of the staff of Thomas Memorial Hospital, HealthSouth Rehabilitation in Barboursville, and Hubbard Hospice at Thomas Memorial Hospital.
Hafer Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Friends and family will be received at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church located at 58 Mt. Pleasant Drive, Elkview, West Virginia,Tuesday, April 10th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and one hour prior to the funeral service on Wednesday, April 11th at 2:00 PM with Pastor Lee Swor officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in South Charleston, West Virginia.
