Tom (Wilford K.) Young, 83, of Elkview, passed away at home February 21, 2018 after a brief illness.

He worked in construction at CAMC for twenty years and was a member of the West Virginia Carpenter’s Union.

Tom graduated from Elkview High School in 1953 and joined the Navy, where he served honorably until 1956.

He was a faithful member, and trustee, of Mt Pleasant Baptist Church. Tom was active in many construction projects at the church, including a new elementary school and the restoration of the church after the 2016 floods.

Tom was a hard worker, a trusted mentor and friend, and a loving father. He will be missed by many.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Lois Ann Griffith Young, son Kenneth Young, daughter-in-law Felicia Lynn Huson, sister Mary Francis Scarpa of Griffin, GA, and brother Dana Lee Young of Manning, SC.

He was preceded in death by his father Wilford Mark Young and mother Mildred Freda Young.

Service will be 11:00 am Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Pastor Lee Swor officiating. Burial will be at Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Friday, Feb. 23, 2018 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 58 Mt. Pleasant Drive.
