Obituary for James W. Parrish

James W.  Parrish
James W. Parrish of Elkview went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 15, 1940 in Charleston, W.V. to the late Clarence W. "Sam" and Carrie T. Parrish. He was a 1958 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School where he was a first team all-state 3rd baseman on the 1958 State Championship baseball team. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Charles E. Parrish. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was employed for 30 years with the State of West Virginia Health and Human Resources division as a data processing manager.

Jim was the past President of Elk District Little League, where he also coached baseball and softball for many years. He also umpired in the Sissonville Little League for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and also golfing. He especially enjoyed the Family vacations to Holden Beach over the past 20 years. He was a proud supporter of all of his children and grandchildren's multiple sporting activities where he could be found with JoAnn by his side.

He was a long time member of Elkview Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years. He loved his family unconditionally and led by example. He was extremely proud of all his children and grandchildren. His life was well lived.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, JoAnn Canfield Parrish; brother, Sam (Pam) Parrish; sister-in-law Carolyn Parrish; children, Jimmy (Teresa), Becky (Eric) Minsker, Tommy (Tina), Jenny (Pat) Kee; grandchildren, Rachel (Nathen) Brill, Kyle (Hannah) Parrish, Jamison Lewis, Meagan, Andrew and Haley Minsker, Tommy, Mandy Parrish, Hayden, Ben, Emma and Sam Kee; great grandchildren, Kate Brill, Jaxson and Reese Parrish. And many loving nieces and nephews.

Service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017 at Elkview Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Bias and Pastor Bobby Sizemore officiating. Burial will be at Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney; with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 61, Clendenin.

Visitation will be 5-8 pm Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017 at Elkview Baptist Church.
