Obituary for Velma Edith Fisher

Velma “Edith” Fisher, 98, of Clendenin, went home to be with the Lord Monday, July 31, 2017.

Born September 16, 1918 in Roane County, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Charles Hayes and Nannie Clay (Snodgrass) Nichols.

Edith enjoyed owning and working in Fishers Market with her husband. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing and visiting with family. After retiring, she enjoyed driving to the Clendenin Senior Center to visit with friends. Edith loved to tell that she had been driving for more than 75 years.

Edith was the beloved wife of the late Clark Price Fisher; devoted mother to Hilda (Norman) Clark and the late James “Jim” Clark (Mary) Fisher; loving grandmother to Jeannette (Steve) Horton, Marissa (Milton) Seabolt, Erika (Deane) Johnson, Jill (Josh) Schlup, Kyle (Jacquelyn) Fisher; “Grandma Grandma” or “Maw Maw” to 15 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister Emma Smith and sisters-in-law Alma Nichols and Betty Nichols along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Edith was preceded in death by her siblings Brooks Nichols, Earlene Domokos, Charles Nichols, John Nichols, Wilda Snyder and James Nichols.

Visitation will be at 1 pm Sunday, August 6, 2017 and the service will be immediately following at 2 pm at the Hafer Funeral Home with Pastor Clarence Deel officiating. Burial will be in Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney.

The Fisher family would like to give a special thank you to Charlotte Mullens for the care and companionship she provided to Edith, which made it possible for her to remain in her home.
