Obituary for Betty Lou Statts Rowand

Betty Lou (Statts) Rowand, 87, of Pinch, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 30, 2017 surrounded by her family.

Betty was born on April 26, 1930, a daughter to the late Nina Ethel (Canterbury) and Roy Lee Statts.

She graduated from Clendenin High School and went on to work for C&P Telephone Company which later became Bell Atlantic. She retired there after 35+ years of service. During this time, she met and fell in love with her husband to be, Paul Raymond Rowand. Together, they started a life and had a beautiful daughter, Kathy.

Betty was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She enjoyed ceramics and painting, traveling, the beach and above all, being with her family. She was a gentle and kind woman and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Betty is survived by her daughter, Kathy Hastings; two grandsons, Matthew and Grant Hastings; her sisters Jean Davis, Virginia and Doug Ashley, Sharon & Wayne Shafer; sister-in-law, Connia Statts, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Paul Rowand; her brother, Jimmy Statts; brother in law, Howard Davis; and two nephews, Jerry and Terry Davis.

Friends and family will be received at Hafer Funeral Home, 50 North Pinch Road, Elkview, on Thursday, August 3rd from 4 – 7 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday, August 4th at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 246 South Pinch Road, Elkview, from 3 PM until the time of the service at 4 PM with Pastor James A. Walther officiating. A private family interment will follow at Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney.

The family especially would like to thank all of the staff at the Teays Valley Assisted Living Care Facility for all of their kind care and loving compassion given to Betty.
