Thelma was born December 19, 1922, raised on Elk River where she lived all of her 94 years; she graduated Elkview High School and Charleston School of Business. She joined her Heavenly Father on July 29, 2017 along with those who preceded her.

Her husband's Herbert Lee Myers and Jacob Huffman greeted her in Heaven. Also preceding her in death were her parents Elmer and Lula Melton; One of 14 children, she was also preceded in death by her brothers: Hoy, Floy, Clebert, Omer, and Gordon Melton; sisters, Cassie, Velva and Mellogene Melton, Opal Moore, Cledith Gunter and Gladys Harper.

She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where she was an active member, sang in the choir and played the piano and organ. She resided in Titusville, Florida, during the winters where she also played the piano and organ for Titusville Baptist Church, and played in a band for Prim-Timers associated with Temple Baptist Church. She retired from the Federal Government with 30 years of service.

She is survived by her husband, French Smith, daughter, Diane Myers Withrow and husband Dwaine of Teays Valley, grandson Jeffrey Withrow and wife Meredith of Huntington, granddaughter, Leanne Withrow Stowers and husband Derrick of St. Albans, 5 great granddaughters Lauryn and Lindsey Stowers, Emma and Ellie Withrow, and Dulcie Crisante, twin sister Velma High of Kanawha City, and Benjamin Melton currently lives in North Carolina formally of Alum Creek. Stepsons, Ed Smith and wife Jane of Buchannan, Rich Smith and wife Cheryl of Elkview, stepdaughters, Sandi Breinig and husband Joe of Leesburg, Virginia, and Sharon Roy of Lexington, Kentucky.

Service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Pastor John D. Smith officiating. Burial will be in Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney.

Visitation will be from 12-2pm Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Elkview.
