Buddy Eugene Jones of Pinch passed away Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the age of 78.
Buddy came from humble beginnings, but worked hard from a very early age. Through his efforts, he successfully established multiple businesses throughout his lifetime.
After serving his country in the United States Army, including a two-year tour in Kaiserslautern, West Germany, he returned home and accepted a position with FMC Stamping Plant assembling armored personnel carriers.
His entrepreneurial spirit then led him to various endeavors, and he was never afraid to try something new. Over the last fifty years, Buddy owned and operated a Gulf Station, wrecker and snow removal service, real estate company, hardware store, carwash, laundromat, and numerous rental properties.
He loved to travel, and enjoyed telling stories of his experiences to anyone willing to listen. His grandchildren were his greatest joy. He was also an avid animal lover, and those who knew him best will be happy to know that he and his beloved Mack will be interred together.
He was preceded in his passing by his wife of 52 years, Ramona Birthisel-Jones, his parents, Lovell and Verlie Jones, brother, Quenton Jones of Sharonville, OH, and sister Geneva Stuck of Charleston, WV.
Buddy is survived by his son David Jones and his fiancée Kerstin Kitner of Pinch, daughter Shelley Lively and her husband Bill of Pinch, granddaughters Alexandra and Galina Lively, Trystan Lively-Bradshaw and her husband Tyler, Kaitlin and Mason Snowden. He is also survived by one brother, Paul Jones of Sissonville.
A visitation will be held at Hafer Funeral Home on Tuesday May 30th from 12 – 2 pm, immediately followed by graveside service officiated by Reverend Daniel Forwood, in Elk Hills Memorial Park, with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 61, Clendenin.
After the conclusion of the burial, an informal gathering and tribute with refreshments will be held at Buddy’s place in Pinch. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Kanawha Charleston Humane Association.
