Oshel Wade Carnell, Sr. 78, of Charleston, frequently known as Poppy or Papaw passed away Monday, April 3, 2017 at Cedar Ridge Nursing Center, Sissonville.
He was a retired self employed, independent distributor and a member of Elk Valley Advent Christian Church, Big Chimney. He was a member of Kanawha Masonic Lodge 20 AF&AM., Scottish Rites in the Valley of Charleston, Beni Kedem Shriners of Charleston. Oshel enjoyed hunting, fishing, and taking trips with his friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Basil and Glada Wolfe Carnell; siblings, Anna Knight, Harold Carnell, Lorene Fisher, Darrell Carnell, infant sister, Eileen.
Oshel is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Pat Copen Carnell; sons, Wade (Joyce) Carnell, Donald (Zenda) Carnell of Charleston; sister, Naomi (Jesse) Baldwin; sister-in-law, Virginia Carnell. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Heather, Josh, Kaylah, Olivia, Lauren and great grandchildren, Cierra and Mason.
Service will 2:00 pm Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the Hafer Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney, with Masonic Graveside rites being conducted by Kanawha Masonic Lodge 20 AF&AM.
Visitation will be 12-2pm Thursday at the funeral home.
