Charles Henry Hill, 95, of Elkview, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at the Golden Living Center in Glasgow.
Charles loved fishing, camping, and taking his grandchildren on vacation. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and served on LST 534 Carrier and landed on Normandy Beach. He was a member of the American Legion Post 61. He also was a member of the Keystone Apostolic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ambrose Guy Hill & Eura Branum; his loving wife- Evelyn Hill; son- Charles B. Hill; sisters- Mary Pauline Boner, Virginia Hicks, Kathleen Hughes; brother- Joe Crist.
He is survived by his sons- Douglas Hill and wife Becky of Charleston, Eddie Hill and wife Debbie of Sissonville; daughters- Deloris Summerfield of Elkview, Barbara Harkins and husband Larry of St. Albans; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and too many great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews to list.
Services will be Friday, February 10, 2017, at 11:00 AM, at Hafer Funeral Home, with Pastor Dale Pitsenbarger officiating. Burial will be at Tyler Mountain Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
