George Wilburn Abshire, Jr. 66, of Elkview a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015 at CAMC General Hospital.
He had worked for CAMC for 40 years and was a US Air Force veteran during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of Hurricane Baptist Church, Clio, where he served as deacon, adult sunday school teacher, Junior class and the Sunday School Superintendent.
He is preceded in death by his father, George W. Abshire, Sr.
George is survived by his wife, Kathy Payne Abshire, sons, Joe Abshire and wife Lindsay of St. Albans; USAF Captain Jason Abshire and wife Sanja of Dayton, Ohio; mother, Geraldine Cabel Abshire; brothers, Artie and John Abshire; sister, Linda Layton, eight grandchildren and countless other family and friends.
Service will be 3:00 pm Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015 at the Hafer Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Workman officiating, with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 8516, Clendenin following the service. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
