Carrie Mae Underwood

Carrie Mae Underwood, 84, of Charleston went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 23, 2009 at CAMC. Carrie was born on August 5, 1926 in Bosavain, Virginia; she was the daughter of the late Carl Rutledge and Susie Schueller Rutledge.

She was a faithful Christian and attended Maranatha Fellowship Church in St. Albans, West Virginia.

She was a loving and devoted mother to six daughters.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Rev. Harold R. Underwood; five sisters, Mary White, Dorothy Davis, Eva Rutledge, Evelyn Rutledge and Ennis Boyd; one brother, Harold Rutledge.

She is survived by her
six daughters;
Patricia Allen of Irving, Texas,
Sherry Adams and husband Carl of Beckley,
Connie Underwood of Crab Orchard,
Donna Rutherford and husband Frank of Pennsylvania,
Sarah Wickline and husband Jim of North Carolina
and Peggy White and husband Rick of Pinch, West Virginia,

Two sisters;
Bessie Thorne and husband Wayne of Chesapeake, VA;
Betty Greene and husband Tom of Meadow Bridge, WV;

One brother, Jack Rutledge of Lake Shawnee;

13 Grandchildren and 10 Great-Grandchildren

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Meadowbrook Acres Nursing Home staff and the wonderful nurses and physicians at CAMC Memorial who provided such wonderful for Carrie Mae.

Service will be 11:00 AM Monday, April 26, 2010 at the Hafer Funeral Home Chapel, Elkview with Pastor David Mullins officiating. Entombment and graveside rites will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, 5250 Robert C. Byrd Drive Beckley, WV 25801
