Gene William Idleman 83, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2014 at Eastbrook Nursing Home. Gene was born in Charleston, WV on December 14, 1930. He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Ila Idleman.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan Canterbury Idleman; brother Don Idleman of Pinch; son Joe (Lois) Idleman of Kiawah Island, South Carolina and daughter Karen (Charles) McClung of Pinch. Grandsons William (Brandee) Idleman of Ladera Ranch, CA; David (Brianna) of Reedy; Adam (Julie) McClung of Lancaster, KY; Jonathan (Rachel) McClung of Winston-Salem, NC; Philip (Jeannie) McClung of Pinch. Four great-granddaughters and three great-grandsons.

He graduated from Elkview High School in 1948 and attended Morris Harvey College. He retired from Bell Lines/Smith Transfer with 29 years service as a dock foreman and from the WV Air National Guard in 1982 with 20 years of service in the communication center.

Gene loved beekeeping and was an avid fisherman, hunter, and formidable Rook player. He loved spending time with his son, brother, grandsons and nephew in a variety of outdoor activities.

Service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Hafer Funeral Home, Elkview. Visitation one hour prior to the service with Pastor David Keeney officiating. Burial will be at Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney.
